Advisory against fraudulent telephone calls

Embassy of India, Copenhagen has received a few complaints regarding fraudulent telephone calls in which a person is asked to deposit a certain amount for rectifying an error in his travel or residence document. It may be noted that a telephone number allotted to Embassy of India, Copenhagen is being used for this purpose.  All Indians living in Denmark are advised to be alert against such a call and not to make any payment asked for by the caller.

It may be recalled that on 10th June 2016, this Embassy had alerted against such incidents in other countries of Europe. Once again, all are advised to be very careful about such calls.
In case of any doubt, they should hang up after telling such callers that they would call back the Embassy of India in Copenhagen themselves. It is also requested that any such incident be reported to Embassy of India, Copenhagen at cons.copenhagen@mea.gov.in or visa.copenhagen@mea.gov.in A complaint regarding the call may also be lodged with the local police.
